Spin Into Toontown

Disneyland is making changes to one of its cutest lands, catering to a younger audience and those young at heart: Toontown.

Toontown was once located in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland in California. If you’re looking to experience Toontown today, you will have to visit California or take a plane out to Tokyo Disney.

It is a whimsical, larger-than-life playground where you can tour Mickey and Minnie’s house, climb a tree with chip and dale, grab an ice cream or hop on some adorable rides.

A little over two years ago, Disneyland received the announcement that Mickey’s Runaway Railway would be joining the cast and cartoon crew of the West Coast. While developments have been slowed due to the pandemic, advancements are being made in its construction. This will be a fantastic addition to Toontown, utilizing the backstage portion of the themed land to duplicate arguably one of the most extraordinary technological breakthroughs in the world of attractions in 2021. This joyful journey will undoubtedly extend the ages of those who venture to the back of the park. Be sure to check out the Mousecapades Podcast to listen for the most up-to-date news and rumors! We will keep you posted on any information we hear regarding its opening date.

Disney recently announced some new additions coming to the land, including a grassy area to sit and relax and an updated water display catering to guests visiting at night. We have to wonder if Toontown’s regular operating hours will change much, if at all.

In addition to the work being done on Mickey’s Runaway Railway, Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin is finally getting the story it’s been lacking, and we couldn’t be more excited! Jessica Rabbit, wife of the infamous Roger Rabbit, will take front and center in this new adventure as a private eye determined to stamp out the criminal invasion in Toontown. Rather than gut the ride as a whole, the storyline will overlay the already laid out attraction with presumably new queue decor, ride figures, and dialogue. This will no doubt add a new spark to Toontown and once again encourage families of all ages to give it a “spin.”

While the new additions have left the long-term fate of Toon Spin open-ended, we are sure Disney will continue to amaze us with something fun and exciting.
