The New Disney Cruise Ship: Disney Wish

Updated: Jul 8, 2021

Disney released some new exciting news a few weeks ago. They released a sneak peek of the New Disney Wish Cruise Ship. I’m so excited about this ship. It is a new design that is imaged around a Cinderella Theme with Minnie Mouse as the Captain.

The maiden voyage with be a 5-night cruise from Port Canaveral to Nassau, Bahamas, and Castaway Cay on June 9th, 2022. You won’t be going on that inaugural cruise, though; it has already sold out. You can still book for any of the 3 or 4-night cruises on this ship going to the same ports of call.

The ship decor is like stepping into a Fairytale. Disney Imagineers have outdone themselves with this beautiful ship. One could spend hours appreciating the unique decore in the Grand Hall. There's literally so much detail.

This new ship is complete with your usual stateroom categories (inside, oceanview, and verandah) and, of course, 76 concierge staterooms and suites. This is almost twice as much in comparison to other Disney Ships. The Disney Wish will also debut 4 Royal Suites attributed to Disney’s Animations’ Sleeping Beauty. They will have 2 Princess Aurora Royal Suits and 2 Briar Rose Royal Suites. Each of these includes the option of a 1-story or 2-story configuration.

The Disney Wish will continue with their family dining concept where guests can experience 1 of 3 imaginative restaurants. What are these 3 new restaurants, you ask? The Disney Wish will take guests on a remarkable culinary journey to an enchanted Frozen Kingdom, an Avengers technology showcase, and the golden age of Hollywood. I don’t know about you, but I am excited about dining in Arendell. The Disney Wish will offer other dining options ranging from quick bites, casual dining, and 24-hour room service to specialty treats, gourmet cafes, and premium dining exclusively for adults.

There will be new entertainment options on the Disney Wish. During the day, you can find Family entertainment in Luna and an adult-only venue at night offering live shows and interactive programming. There is also the Hero Zone, where families can entertain themselves with game show-style competitions themed to some of Disney’s most incredible heroes.

We know Disney Cruise Line has some of the best live entertainment. The Disney Wish is no exception. Disney’s Aladdin- A Musical Spectacular is coming to the Wish. The Disney Wish will also have two movie theaters, the Wonderland Cinema and Never Land Cinema.

Upon the Upper Deck is the Family pool district that will also double as an entertainment venue. It has a poolside stage and a jumbo LED screen. Guests will enjoy various entertainment ranging from movies and live sporting events to brand-new deck parties and nighttime fireworks new to this ship only.

If your kids are like mine, they will enjoy the Kids Clubs. The Oceaneer Club is for ages 3-12 and is located on deck 2. Parents can check them in on deck 2 and then send them down a twisting slide that lands directly into the central hub on deck 3.

Marvel Super Hero Academy is new to the Disney Wish. It is a high-tech Avengers headquarters where young “recruits” will train to be the next generation of Super-Heroes with the help of their own real-life heroes.

Fairytale Hall is also new and debuting on The Disney Wish. It is a royal trio of activity rooms where kids will join some of their favorite Disney Princesses and Frozen characters. You will be able to create art in Rapunzel’s Art Studios, read and act out stories at Belle’s Library, and rest up at Newfound Icy Powers at Anna and Elsa’s Courtesy.

The Imagineering Lab is the first of its kind and appears for the first time on a Disney cruise ship. Here, kids can discover the secrets of Disney Imagineers with hands-on activities and inventive experiments. Sourcerer Mickey may even stop by to offer a helping hand.

Of course, Disney Wish will offer the same kids clubs as they do on their other ships. It’s a Small World Nursery for ages six months to 3 years, Edge for tweens ages 11-14, and Vibe teens ages 14-17.

I think the newest and most exciting newbie is the AquaMouse. Families will be immersed in the Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse animated shorts aboard AuqaMouse. This first-of-its-kind water ride will send guests on a fun adventure through 760 feet of winding tubes suspended high above the upper decks as the story is appropriately named Port Misadventures. Guest will join Mickey and the gang on an undersea excursion to Mermaid Lagoon that will go awry.

The AquaMouse is a two-seater ride vehicle. It will ascend into a magical tunnel that will teleport them into the cartoon world of Scuba Scramble, a new animated short that plays out through oversized virtual portholes. Guest will blast out of the tunnel and embark on a wild water ride around the upper decks; they will splash down for a farewell message from Mickey and Minnie. How fun makes that sound?

There is also a Whimsical Water Wonderland for families with toddlers and young children. Little ones will go to “swim”-finity and beyond in a new Toy Story-themed waterplay district. Here, they can enjoy a Toy Sprot Splash Zone with Woody, Buzz, and the Gang.

Of course, we can’t finish this article without talking about the Adults only Sun-Drenched Serenity area. This is one of my favorite spots! Over at Quiet Cove, guests ages 18 and older will find a secluded adults-only district dedicated to lounging, sipping, and soaking. This relaxing refuge can be found at the back of the ship and has some fantastic panoramic views of the ocean from a luxurious infinity pool. Here at the Quiet Cove, you can take a dip in the pool, unwind in a whirlpool spa, relax in a chaise lounge, and indulge in a cool beverage from Cove Bar.

If you are a newbie and ready to take your very first cruise or a veteran cruiser like me, the Disney Wish will be a ship you will want to go on!
