It's officially Fall Y'all! There is no place I would love to be during the Fall other than Walt Disney World. The Fall brings new fall overlays at the parks, a party, a festival, and better weather. Add in all the Fall Snacks and the Halloween Decorations, and I am one happy girl. Let's talk about what is happening around Walt Disney World in the Autumn months.
The Weather
In general, the weather is cooler in the Fall months. Now, I'm not talking about the cool days when you need a sweatshirt in Kentucky, kind of cooler weather. I'm talking about where the humidity is better, and it isn't in the 90s. It will still be around 80, and you may see some rain showers, but it's Florida, and the rain showers don't last too long. Add ponchos to your packing list and add them to your park bag.
Lighter Crowds
Over the past few years, it seems like there is no slow time at Disney World anymore, but there are certain months throughout the year where crowds are lower in all of the parks. September seems to be one of the months with lower groups. The kids are back in school, and it's hard to get away then. However, October can be very busy with families on Fall Break from school. Or, you are like my family and either vacation in the Fall or Winter.
Halloween Decorations
Resorts, parks and even Disney Springs get all decorated for Halloween starting in mid-August. The park with the most decor is Magic Kingdom with the Mickey Wreaths to all the Halloween Merch in the gift shops. Along with the Fall decorations, there are other special experiences you can only experience this time of year.
Epcot Food and Wine Festival
This is one of my favorite festivals. This year it started in July and will run until mid-November. If you have never been to food and wine, you are in for a treat. Make sure you are hungry when you go. It offers cultural cuisines, fun games and foodie challenges, new merch, and entertainment like Eat To The Beat. I recommend avoiding weekends, as the crowds seem larger for Food and Wine Festival.
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
One of the best things about Fall at Disney World is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. This is a hard ticket event, meaning you will need a separate ticket from your regular park entry ticket. If you were lucky enough to get tickets to these sold-out parties this year, you can enter the park at 4:00 PM. The party typically lasts until Midnight. The park closes at 6:00 PM for guests that do not have a party ticket. The party includes fan favorites like the Boo To You Parade, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, Fireworks, Trick or Treating, and Special Character Meet and Greets.
Fall Snacks
Food! Glorious Food! If you cannot tell, the snacks are my favorites. Not only can you find some of these treats in the park, but you can also find them over at Disney Springs. You can even find some select treats at the resorts. Here are some of the great snacks you can find.
Halloween-Themed Popcorn Buckets
The Jack-o-Lantern Float in Disney Springs
Sweet Candy Corn soft-serve Swirl Code at Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies
Oh, My Goud Cupcake at Main Street Bakery
Chilling Chamber Pop at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments
Dole Whip Oogie Boogie Nachos over in Disney Springs
and more
So between the lower crowds, fall snacks, festivals, and parties, you can see why I love Disney World in the Fall.
