Walking Down Main Street USA

It all starts when I hear the "ding" of my magic band telling me I can enter. As I step through, I take a deep breath and smell the coffee and sweet treats from the Main Street Bakery and the Confectionary. Which is my first stop since I skipped coffee at the resort so I could hurry and get to Magic Kingdom.
Main Street USA reminds me of my small home town in Ohio. When you first walk in, you walk through the tunnel and the Railroad is right above you. Then there is City Hall where you can find Guest Services. You can get a button if you don't already have one. I don't know about you but I'm always celebrating something at Disney. Even if it's just celebrating being off of work for a week. Don't forget, the Fire Station. It's right next to City Hall.
Next to the Fire Station is the Harmony Barber Shop. It is an actual barber shop where you can get your haircut. I love looking at all the store fronts along Main Street. If you look up in the windows above the shops you will see the names of some Disney Executives, artists, and their families painted on the windows.

I love exploring all of the shops. I'm usually looking for my next pair of ears, jewelry, or a t-shirt to take home. I always bring something home every trip. I could spend hours in the stores just exploring. One of my favorite restaurants on Main Street is Casey's Corner. I can get a cheese Coney here even if they do call it a hot dog with Chili and Cheese. I live in the Cincinnati area; what can I say?
One of my favorite things to do on Main Street is to find a bench, sit, and people watch. The looks on people’s faces as they walk down Main Street for the first time are priceless. Even for a Disney veteran like me, it still takes my breath away. Every now and then you'll catch the smell of popcorn in the the air. I think my friend Nick has it right. It would be amazing to be homeless on Main Street.
Don't forget about the entertainment you can see on Main Street. I'm not talking about the entertainment from people watching, I'm talking about the actual entertainment. The parades, The Main Street Trolley show, and my personal favorites, the Dapper Dan's. When I was a teenager (years ago) I was part of the entertainment on Main Street one day. My High School Marching band marched down Main Street playing our fight song and a few other songs. Every time I see a High School band marching down Main Street it takes me back to that day.

There’s nothing better than standing on Main Street at the end of the night watching the Happily Ever After Fireworks show above the Castle. It's a perfect ending to a perfect day at Magic Kingdom. I like to stay even after the fireworks are over and the park is getting ready to close. You wait for "the kiss goodnight". Then you hear the music to When You Wish Upon a Star.
“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, on behalf of everyone here at the Magic Kingdom, we thank you for joining us today for a magic gathering of family, friends, fun, and fantasy. We hope your magical journey with us has created wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.
Walt Disney said that the Magic Kingdom is a world of imagination, hopes, and dreams. In this timeless land of enchantment, magic and make believe are reborn, and fairy tales come true. The Magic Kingdom is a place for the young and the young at heart. A special place where when you wish upon a star, your dreams can come true.
Until we see you again, have a safe trip home. Thank you, and goodnight.”

We might be missing the fireworks and some of the entertainment on Main Street but they will be back. That doesn't mean that Main Street USA doesn't still hold that magic for us. You can still enjoy the sights and sounds. Nothing can take that experience away. Never experienced walking down Main Street? What are you waiting for? The magic is just a dream away and we can make that dream happen.
