What’s In The Bag: Packing for the Beach

Summer is in full swing, and everyone’s social media accounts seem to be full of pictures of family beach trips! It seems like the perfect time to discuss a few must-pack items for your beach trip!

Sunscreen

I shouldn’t have to tell you to pack this, but you don’t want to wait until you are at the beach, your hotel, or on a cruise ship to purchase sunscreen. Tourist locations love to overcharge for these items, so save some money and bring them from home. My personal favorite brand that is safe for my littles is ThinkSport. And while you are at it, go ahead and pack aloe, just in case you miss a spot or don’t reapply in time!

Sunscreen Reminder Stickers

It’s easy to lose track of time when you are on vacation. These stickers remind you when it is time to reapply your sunscreen! Brilliant, right?!? You have got to check them out!

Beach Approved Wardrobe

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume you wouldn’t leave for the beach without your swimwear, but did you remember to pack shoes that are easy to get off and on for walking across the scorching hot sand, a hat, and your sunglasses? I hope so! When I bring my children to the beach, I also prefer to wear rash guard shirts. The more covered up they are, the less I have to worry. Bikinis are cute, but sunburns aren’t!

Waterproof Phone Pouch

Why is it that kids do all the cutest things when you don’t have your phone nearby?! If you are splashing in the waves, you aren’t likely to want to be holding onto your phone. Getting one of these waterproof phone pouches could be extremely beneficial. You can wear it like a necklace, so your phone is always nearby! Plus, you don’t have to worry about your phone getting stolen while away from your beach bag.

A Sand Free Blanket

These sand-free blankets are compact and easy to throw into your beach bag! They are quick-drying and are a must for anyone heading to the beach!

Snacks

Are you tired of me saying you need snacks everywhere you go? Well, it’s true! If you have small children, you don’t want to be caught anywhere without something to cure their hunger-driven anger. However, snacks can go wrong. Imagine for a moment the combo of Cheeto fingers and sand...yuck. Instead, opt for snacks that don’t need additional clean-up. Fill your cooler with pre-cut fruit, cheese sticks, or applesauce pouches. Or you could opt for pretzel rods, nuts, and veggie straws. Be sure also to come prepared with beverages to keep yourself hydrated! Freeze all of your water bottles or Gatorade to keep them colder longer!

Baby Powder

Did you know that baby powder helps remove stubborn stuck on sand? Just get out of the water, and the air dries a bit, and then shake on the baby powder! The sand will come right off, and you’ll smell nice too!

Deodorant

Speaking of smelling nice, all that are splashing around in the ocean waves will surely cause your deodorant to wash off. Don’t forget to pack something to freshen up if that hot summer sun becomes too strong! If you don’t have a lot of extra space, try packing some individually wrapped deodorant wipes!

What are you bringing to the beach with you?
