Exploring the Splendors of Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas

By Nick Eyman - August 3, 2023 | Review of Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas

Welcome to Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, a sprawling oasis at the south end of the Las Vegas strip. Opened in March 1999, this magnificent resort spans over 9.3 million square feet, offering a luxurious escape for visitors from all around the world.

With over 3,200 rooms and 400+ suites, Mandalay Bay can comfortably host a multitude of guests. Additionally, guests of the Four Seasons can access an exclusive area through a private elevator in the main lobby. The spacious and comfortable Resort King rooms boast approximately 550 square feet, complete with a plush king-sized bed, soft linens, and fluffy pillows. There's a small upright safe in the closet and ample hanging space for added convenience. Overall, the accommodations ensure a restful stay for every traveler.

Situated just a 10-minute drive from the airport (sans traffic) and a mere 15-minute drive from the Stratosphere at the opposite end of the strip, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino provides a convenient base for exploration. However, it's worth noting that, being the last resort at the end of the strip, some attractions may require a bit of a stroll or a quick ride-share to reach.

The check-in process at Mandalay Bay is efficient and hassle-free, with friendly concierge staff readily available to assist. Although check-in officially begins at 4:00 pm, early arrivals may be accommodated if rooms are available. The front desk staff goes the extra mile to provide a warm welcome and offer helpful information about the resort's amenities and services.

Hospitality is paramount at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. From the welcoming smiles of staff members in the hallways to the attentive housekeeping attendants who ensure guests have everything they need, the resort's service leaves a lasting positive impression.

Mandalay Bay's pool area is unparalleled for those seeking a relaxing day by the water. Featuring multiple pools, a lazy river, and a wave pool, there's no shortage of aquatic delights. Lounging on the sandy "beach" next to the wave pool is a unique and enjoyable experience. Guests can also indulge in a cabana rental for a luxurious poolside retreat.

While the resort offers a world-class casino, having a wonderful time without gambling is possible. The casino floor might not have been everyone's favorite due to a lingering odor and noise, but it provides an array of options for those interested in gaming. However, with so much to see and do, one might find themselves merely passing through this area.

Food enthusiasts will be delighted with the extensive culinary offerings at Mandalay Bay. With over 25 restaurants and fast food options within the resort and the shops at Mandalay Bay, you can easily satisfy any craving. Some personal recommendations include the mouthwatering shrimp and grits at Libertine Social, the delectable BLT sandwich at Seabreeze Cafe, and the delicious fare at Ri Ra Irish Pub.

In addition to the gaming and dining experiences, Mandalay Bay offers diverse entertainment choices. Catch the spectacular Michael Jackson show "ONE" by Cirque du Soleil, which features incredible acrobatics and catchy music. For live music, head to the Irish Pub in the Shoppes at Mandalay Bay or check with the hotel for other special events.

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino delivers an unforgettable Las Vegas experience. Despite its distance from the central strip, it offers an opportunity for invigorating walks, balancing out the indulgence in the plethora of dining options. If you're planning a trip to Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay is undoubtedly a top choice for a memorable and enjoyable stay.
